Founded in Manama in 1952 Oriental Press is now a Global print & packaging Group and the largest print and packaging operation in the Gulf.
Carton board and flexible packaging is manufactured from a purpose built BRC and FSC approved $24 million purpose-built facility in Bahrain. Furthermore a modern manufacturing plant in Dubai the Group is already exporting 70% of its output to overseas markets.
Now in 2023 OP is expanding operations both locally and into the UK packaging market as part of the Group’s global growth strategy and has recently supplied nearly 5 million cartons to M&S for their premium Beauty project which launches mid October.
In order to support our growth in the UK market and to extend the creative capability and offering of our business in the Gulf we have partnered with a leading UK constructional design and innovations operation which provides front end technical support and a unique constructional angle to packaging.
We can now offer highly creative and innovative constructional design capability, with unique solutions to new and existing packs. Our board fitments are a sustainable replacement to thermo-formings, and we can introduce new thinking with some unique patented products including 100% recyclable carton-board tubes, round and shaped packaging and rigid boxes that fold flat.
Below are some packaging ideas which have been developed with our partners all of which we can produce in Bahrain.
First set of images are packs that have the strength and feel of a rigid box but are made from flat components – without gluing – and are assembled at the time of fulfillment and packing. Because they are made from carton board they hold a better level of emboss than a rigid and obviously are highly efficient through the supply chain as flat components.
O.P also have access to paperboard tube technology with tube forming machines in Sri Lanka and the UK. The potential to introduce machinery into the Gulf or even create a manual manufacturing line in Bahrain are options if there is sufficient demand.
The tubes are 100% recyclable with paperboard bases which makes them incredibly attractive from a sustainability perspective.
As an alternative to paperboard tubes we also have the ability to produce a round carton such as the images below. These may be hex to round – square to round or entirely round. These are a cost effective option to paperboard tubes.
